

Scoobie was born in Central Park, AL on May 21, 1942. He graduated from Hueytown High School and attended University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Scoobie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Billie R. Carter, his son, Earl Norman Carter III, grandchildren, Earl Nick Carter IV (Hallie), Courtney Fields (Devin), Scout Carter (Megan), Samantha Carter, and Caleb Carter, great-grandchildren, Tucker Fields and Tallulah Carter, sister, Lyndall McBrayer, and brother, Lindsey Carter (Barbara). He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl N. Carter Sr. and Dorothy Carter.
Scoobie served 21 years as the Circuit Court Clerk for Bessemer with the division of Jefferson County. He was a member of the Flint Hill Masonic Lodge #810 and Bessemer Kiwanis. Scoobie served on the Girls Inc Board and the Bessemer YMCA board. He was a member of Woodward Golf Club. He truly had a servants heart for his community.
Scoobie’s love for his family was evident to all who knew him. He cherished his time with Billie. He was proud of his family, and there was hardly a conversation he had where he did not mention his grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
He always had a smile on his face, never met a stranger, was quick with a joke, and could make you laugh like no other. He loved playing golf, being with Billie, and his kitty, Ms. B. Scoobie will be greatly missed, but the love he shared will continue to live in our memories forever.
A visitation for Earl will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Following the visitation will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
