Passed on August 22, 2019
After an extended struggle with dementia, Edith passed peacefully on the evening of Aug. 22. Her passing marked the earthly end, of a long and fruitful life. Born and raised in west Birmingham, Edith attended Ensley High School. As a young woman, she met, and married, the love of her life, Charlie (Bo) McLemore. After losing Bo, in 1988, Edith carried on, maintaining her home, and being involved in her community of Homewood. She had a great passion for supporting the public safety community, often stopping by the fire station nearby, to drop off ice cream, or some other treat. She was most involved, however, in supporting the Homewood Police Department. Edith participated in the Homewood Citizen’s Police Academy, joined the CPA’s Alumni Association, and even served a term as it’s president. In addition to the community involvement, and raising a family, Edith had run a successful bank products business, and assisted her husband, in the ownership and operation of a local service station. In her younger years, Edith was very passionate about training and showing Boxer’s in various competitions, even attending the Westminster KC show, in New York City.
As mentioned previously, Edith was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her two sons, Alan McLemore (Melissa), Richard McLemore (Wanda), her sister, Betty Curtis, grandchildren Rachel Regan (Shawn), Charles McLemore (Laura), Malory Romine (Jeff) and Sydney Carden (Tate). Two great grandchildren, Jonah & Norah Regan.
