

PATTON, EDMOND JR., 86, of Birmingham, AL passed away on March 19, 2010. He was born in Birmingham, AL on September 3, 1923 to Edmond and Mary Josie Patton. He attended Elyton Grammar School and Phillips High School. After high school he went on to the University of Alabama College Of Engineering, where he graduated with honors in Aeronautical engineering and was a member of Tau Beta Pi. While in college he went to serve his country in the United States Army. After college Edmond began to work with Pratt Whitney Aircraft Engines, after which he began to work for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company where he was a draftsman to project engineer and trouble shooter, worldwide for 39 years retiring in 1990. Edmond enjoyed many things in life but none more than airplanes. Whether it is Model building, radio controlled airplanes, airplane repair or engine building or even being a pilot. Edmond is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Mary Josie Patton; brother, Richard Kay Patton; sister, Mary Jo Patton Jones; and nephew, William P. Jones. He is survived by his brother, Francis "Frank" M. Patton (Jane); nephews, Michael L. Jones, Sr., Frank M. Patton, and Roger E. Patton. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 9:15 AM until 10:15 AM with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 AM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
