Kendall received his formal education at Rehobeth High School. He furthered his education at Wallace Technical College in Dothan, AL.
Kendall was a member of Montgomery First Baptist Church. He worked for Qualico Steel in Dothan, Alabama until he left to work for Brown & Root in 1980. After working for Brown & Root in Mobile, AL, Kendall accepted a job with Intergrated Handling Systems in 1987 to oversee the installation of a massive multi-level conveyor system for United Parcel Service in Montgomery. He completed several other projects for IHS and started his own company, Conveyors Plus Inc in 1989. That company is now being run by second generation family, Jack and Jennifer Vaughan.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Kendall was in the Boy Scouts as a boy and was a Scout Leader when he was in his twenties.
Kendall was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Shehane and Ludie Ludlam Shehane; 2 sisters, Patricia Grimes and Mary Ivey; 3 brothers, Jimmy Shehane, Ricky Shehane and Britt Shehane.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Deborah Bullard Shehane; children, Jennifer Vaughan (Jack Vaughan), Jessica Spires (Robert Spires); grandchildren, Travis Spires, Jared Spires, Kendall Spires, Isabella Spires, Nenah Vaughan, Norah Vaughan, Nolah Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Jakob and Joseph Spires; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stakeley Sanctuary, First Baptist Church, 305 S. Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104 on Thursday, November 9, at 1:00 PM.
