Tony was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 30, 1958. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1976. He spent his career working in construction for many years.
Tony enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and could often be found outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, but his personal oasis was in his own backyard. He kept feeders throughout his property to welcome wildlife, and his favorite pastime was spent watching the deer, racoons, and birds graze around his home. In his spare time, you could also find him supporting SEC football each fall and NASCAR each winter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Carlos “Buddy” Duke; his stepmother, Mary Rose Duke; his mother, Catherine JoAnn Acton; his stepfather, Charles V. Acton; his Granny Duke; and his Big Mama and Gramps Morrison.
Tony is survived by his children, Allen Duke (Ashley Duke) and Stephanie Gronda (Wesley); his grandchildren, Logan, Lucy, Caroline, Hudson, Gracelyn Hollis, Corbin, Emory Claire Hollis, and Whitley Duke; and his brother, Jeffrey Carlos Duke (Ida).
A visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 am with a graveside service following at 11:00 am.
