"Liz" was married to Gerald Wayne Ellingson on July 18, 1953. The last 25 years of her retirement from the hotel industry were devoted to gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She will forever be loved and missed by her loving husband of 64 years and family.
Liz was predeceased by her parents, Myrtle and Lucius Brantley. Survivors include Liz's husband, "Jerry"; two daughters, Deborah McAdory and Tammy Hemmerich (Gregg); one son, Steven Ellingson; four grandchildren, Tanya Horihan, Tosha Skog, Graham McAdory, and Grace McAdory; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Enfield, Matthew Enfield, Paige Skog, Allie Skog, and Taylor Skog; and two sisters, Helen Genry and Betty Dupree.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by a Celebration of Liz Ellingson's Life and Legacy at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Rev. Dr. Christopher DeGreen will officiate; active pallbearers will be Tosha Skog, Tanya Horihan, Grace McAdory, Graham McAdory, Greg Genry, Gary Genry, and Terry Genry; and honorary pallbearers will be Paige Skog, Allie Skog, Matthew Enfield, and Kyle Enfield.
The private interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
