Ann attended the Mitchel Centers day school for disabled individuals. She loved her caretakers, schoolmates, and teachers. Her favorite pastimes included listening to her radio (she always had a radio); listening to church music, having her fingernails painted, drinking coffee and tea, eating at McDonald's and Cracker Barrel, going on outings with the group home, and celebrating all of the different holidays - including giving out Valentines and dressing up for Halloween. She always needed a wristwatch on both arms, and she enjoyed teasing the staff and had a twinkle in her eye before doing something she shouldn’t (we all knew that look).
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Britton Franklin and Aubrey Nelson Franklin. She is survived by several cousins.
The family especially thanks the Central Alabama Wellness family and the Quality South group home family. They both have been sanctuaries for Ann and her family over many years.
Family and friends will visit at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 10:30-11 a.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Ann at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Following the service, visitation will resume at the lunch reception at the funeral home.
Ann will be laid to rest next to her parents at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Alabama Wellness or Quality South.
