Elizabeth Belle Blake Wheeler

Elizabeth Wheeler went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2014. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Lynn S. Blake, Jr., her grandparents, Lynn S. Blake, Sr. (Dean of Pharmacy, Auburn University), Florence Blake, Hugh Sims and Miriam Dark Sims, and her mother-in-law, Mary R. Wheeler.

Elizabeth was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, and was a lifelong resident of Shades Mt., Alabama. She graduated from Shades Crest Kindergarten, Bluff Park Elementary and Vestavia Junior High. Elizabeth was a graduate of Vestavia High School class of 1975, and earned her Commercial Art degree in 1980 from Auburn University. She had a long successful career as an Art Director in Birmingham. Elizabeth will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, her strength, and her beauty. She will be missed for her zest for life and all the help she gave to her family, friends and church.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Brian W. Wheeler; her mother, Margaret S. Blake; her brother, John S. Blake; her brothers-in-law, Allan Wheeler and Jeff (Dot) Wheeler; father-in-law, George Wheeler; her aunt, Annie Laurie Porter; her uncle, Winford Sims; her cousin, Lisa Baggett; many other cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friend, Tay Bond.

Funeral services will be at 11am on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Southminster Presbyterian Church (Hwy 31, Vestavia Hills, AL), with Rev. Joe Slain officiating.

Elizabeth will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church.
