

Born August 3, 1934 in Red Level, Alabama to Carl W. and Esther Bynum Hall, Emmett attended Red Level High School and graduated in 1952 as President of his senior class. He entered the University of Alabama in the summer of 1952 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the School of Commerce in July, 1955. He enlisted in the Navy in November, 1955 and after completing basic training and Yeoman school, he was assigned to the Admiral’s office in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He served there until his honorable discharge in October, 1959.
Emmett was employed by Southern Natural Gas Co. in February, 1960 as a Materials and Supplies Auditor. He progressed through several positions in the accounting department until his retirement in July, 1992 as the Director of General Accounting. During his tenure with the company, the department made the transition from hand entry ledgers to a fully automated accounting system, of which he was the primary designer and director.
Emmett is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his older brother Carl Bynum Hall. He is survived by his daughters Heather Hall DeWitt (Bobby) and Samantha Hall Gambrill (Larry), his former wife and friend Dianne Hall, his older brother John Ronald Hall, granddaughters Kaylie DeWitt Wilkinson (Dave) and Kyra DeWitt Paliescheskey (Eddie), four wonderful great grandsons, Emmett, Presley, E.J., and Maddox and three nieces, Janet Hall O’Neil, Emily Hall Clem, and Susan Hall Bellows.
Emmett was a loving provider, a loyal husband and friend, a caring brother, and the best father and grandfather ever. He will be greatly missed.
Service will be Sunday June 28, at Clearbranch United Methodist Church. Visitation at 2:00pm and memorial service at 3:00pm. A private interment service for the family will be held at a later date at his final resting place, Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
