

Eugene P. Delk, Jr., a christian and member of Oak Mountain church of Christ, passed away on August 11, 2015. Born on November 26, 1927 in Lakeland, FL, "Gene" lived in Lakeland and Bartow, FL until he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Hospital Corps during WWII.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he married his late wife, Caroline, and they settled in Houston, TX. Mr. Delk graduated from the University of Houston and worked in the pharmaceutical industry. In the late 1960s, he was transferred to Birmingham, AL, where he attended Birmingham School of Law, finished his career, and retired.
Mr. Delk was proceeded in death by his parents, Eugene P. Delk and Elizabeth Andrews Delk, and his beloved wife, Caroline Thier Delk. Survivors include Mr. Delk's two sons, David (Deborah) and Mark, Sr. (Cindy); four grandsons, Jason (Misty), Adam (Lindsay), Mark, Jr. (Johanna), Matthew (Brooke); and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL, immediately followed by the 3 p.m. Memorial Service in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Mr. Bob Hutto will officiate.
