

Evelyn Rogers Farris, age 87, of Birmingham, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Easter morning, April 9, 2023. She was a graduate of Ensley High School and obtained her undergraduate degree from Auburn University.
Evelyn was married to Banks H. Farris on August 25, 1956. They had two sons, William B. "Will" Farris and Stephen "Mark" Farris, both of Birmingham, and grandsons, Banks K. Farris of Los Angeles, California and Marcus A. Farris of Redmond, Oregon.
She had an extensive career as a laboratory technician, registered nurse, and educator. Further, she was a counselor for abused women and a mentor for many, especially in her Christian faith. She loved outdoor activities, including tennis, whitewater canoeing, motorcycle riding, airplane piloting, and tap dance.
Evelyn loved her family dearly as well as the Lord Jesus. She is preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Elizabeth W. Rogers, and by her sister, Betty R. Barnhart. Survivors include Evelyn's beloved husband of 65 years, Banks H.; her sons, William B. (Lynn) and Stephen M.; grandsons, Banks K. (Lacey) and Marcus A.; and great-grandchildren, Finley and Oakley Farris.
The family will receive friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Evelyn at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
