

Fay Hutto Black passed away Oct., 15, 2016. Her age was 90 years old. She was a native of Gulfport, MS., and a graduate of Gulfport High School, Ward-Belmont and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her Degree in Art and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Prior to her marriage, she taught public school art in Jackson, MS. Her first husband, Dr. William Baxter Hutto; second husband, Dr. Arthur Black; and her son, David Bryan Hutto of Vestavia, AL; also her parents, Judge Luther Maples and Gladys Bryan Maples of Gulfport, MS ., preceded her in death. Her Birmingham art activities included teaching many private classes and exhibiting her art extensively. Her paintings received numerous awards and are part of many public and private collections. She was one of the founders of Vestavia Hills Art Association, the Bluff Park Art Association, the Alabama Watercolor Society and the Birmingham Art Association. Tennis was also an important part of her life and she participated for many years in the league teams at Vestavia Country Club. She was a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. Survivors: Polly Levert, daughter, Birmingham; William Baxter Hutto, Jr., Son, Wilsonville, AL; grandchildren, Leif Westberg, Flynn Hutto, Jessica Milster, and David Hutto; four great grandchildren, Leina, Odin, and Emma Westberg, Wyatt Milster. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Friday the 21st, 2016, with the funeral service starting at 11am, all at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorials to the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, 2061 Kentucky Ave., Vestavia, AL 35216, or to a favorite charity.
