Adrian was born on March 16, 1946, in Mobile, Alabama. He attended seminary at Mount Saint Mary’s in Maryland and was ordained to the priesthood in 1972. He began his ministry serving at Holy Family Parish in Mobile before going on to serve as pastor of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Greenville, Alabama, and later St. Maurice Catholic Church in Brewton, Alabama, where he faithfully served for many years.
After retiring in 2016, Adrian moved to Alabaster, Alabama, to be closer to his son, Joshua Woodward, and his grandsons, Patrick Morgan and Adrian Cody Woodward. He continued to serve as a Pastor at St. Thomas in Montevallo, Alabama.
He had many talents and hobbies that he shared with friends, family, and the community around him, but his true passion was of everything salt water.
Adrian is survived by his son, his two grandsons, his brothers, Paul and Roger Cook, and his two adopted families, the Utseys and Macduffys. There are boundless “Fr. Cook” stories from all who knew and loved him.
Adrian will be remembered Saturday, August 8th at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo with a viewing at 10 am, Mass at 11 am, and a bit of a celebration after. In October, Fr. Cook goes to sea once more.
