Frank Morehead Barker, III, believed this truth with all his heart. On Sunday, July 5th, 2026, his faith became sight as he left his earthly dwelling to meet his Savior Jesus Christ face to face.
Frank was raised in Birmingham, AL, but it could also be said that he grew up at Briarwood Presbyterian Church where his father, Frank Jr., served as the founding pastor. Frank attended Briarwood School from K4-12th grade, and by the time he was in junior high, he volunteered any extra time to serving the school and the church with any technical needs in the audio/visual department. During his senior year, Frank became the first recipient of the Servant-Heart Award, which beautifully describes his life and character. After graduating from Samford University, Frank joined the A/V staff of Briarwood Church where he served until the Lord called him home. Frank delighted in serving the Lord beside his family. He spent countless hours editing music with his mother for Briarwood Ballet, running sound for his sister at VBS, and creating CD’s of his father’s sermons. Undoubtedly, however, the job that delighted him the most began in 2002 when he married the love of his life, Pam Goff Barker. That job description quickly expanded as the Lord also blessed them with 4 beautiful daughters - Ana, Gracey, Sissy, and Halle. But one blessing was still to come... in 2022 the Lord finally added another male to the family when Zane (Frank’s favorite grandson) was born!
All who knew Frank would describe him as one who treasured “the least of these” and served all without expecting recognition. As Jesus once said, “The greatest among you is the servant of all.”
Frank will be greatly missed by his wife, Pam Goff Barker; his four daughters, Ana, Gracey, Sissy, Halle; his grandson, Zane; his sister, Peggy Barker Townes (Tim) and his brother-in-law Billy Barnes (Gates). Frank loved being the uncle to Taylor (Lizzy) Barnes, Francie Barnes Riis (Bobby), Richard (Lauren) Barnes, Robby Barnes, Rebecca Townes, Rachel Townes Green (Beau), Gil (Lacey) Townes, Margaret Anne Townes Owens (Brett), David (Kristen) Townes and Neely Townes plus his 16 great nieces and nephews. Frank will be missed by Pam’s parents, Judy and Bill Goff; Pam’s sister, Pat Goff and Pam’s brother, Hunter Goff. There are numerous Barker and Brown family members who will miss Frank as well.
Frank was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved parents, Rev. Frank M. Barker, Jr. and Barbara Brown Barker, and his sister, Anita Barker Barnes.
The celebration of Frank’s life is Thursday, July 9th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Briarwood Presbyterian Church with visitation afterwards.
