Fred Burman Barton Jr.

Mr. Barton was born and raised in Lineville, AL, where he attended elementary and high schools. At Lineville High School, he was a member of the football team and band.

After his 1966 graduation, Mr. Barton served in the U.S. Army for two years. He employed with Bluff Park and Hoover fire departments for 30 years until his retirement at the rank of Captain.

Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Edmondson Barton, and his father, Fred B. Barton, Sr.

Survivors include Mr. Barton's wife of 35 years, Mary A. Barton of Alabaster; two sons, Christopher Barton of Chicago, IL and Jeremy Barton of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Jimmy Barton (Tammy) of Lineville; sister, Ann George (Dan) of Homewood, AL; and two nieces, Molly and Gracie Barton of Lineville.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL, immediately followed by the 11 a.m. Mass at the church. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
