George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry Southern Henderson; Sister, Deborah Elliott (Lou); children, Jennifer Simmons (Randy), Pamela Nesmith (Joel), Jill Donahoo, Lloyd Donahoo (Rebecca); grandchildren, Alexander Johnson, Brodie Bounds, Alyssa Bounds, Bailey Bounds, Reece Donahoo (Skyler), Cody Colvin (Brenna), Madison Donahoo, Mason Donahoo; great-granddaughter; Ellie Mae Colvin; work family, Jeremy and Crystal Barnette, Darin Smith; and countless other family and friends. He was preceeded in death by his father, George L. Henderson Jr.; mother, Annabelle Davidson Henderson; brother, Michael Lee Henderson.
George was born in Mobile, AL on June 3, 1948, and moved with his family to Birmingham, AL as a child. He attended Banks High School in Birmingham, and the UAB School of Engineering. After serving in the US Army, George pursued a career in the Steel industry as a Structural Engineer and Manager of Estimating & Fabrication.
George's hobbies included spending time with family, working in his yard, and watching University of Alabama football with his beloved dog, Baxter.

Public Visitation will be Wednesday, December 8, 2021 6PM - 8 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL.
Family graveside service will be on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 11 AM at Vincent Cemetery in Vincent, AL
