Gwen was an active member of Glen Iris Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her father, Jake Higgins; her mother, Mary Higgins; one brother, Ernest Higgins; and two sisters, Elaine Warren and Linda Brooks.
Survivors include Gwen's nieces, Tina Warren, Cynthia Warren, and Pamela Blackburn (Kris Blackburn); great-nieces and great-nephews, Amber Hill, Ashley Hyde, Heather Miller, Jimmy Miller, Elaine Blackburn, and Joseph Blackburn; and Gwen's best friend, Patty Raymond.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by a Celebration of Gwen Higgins' Life at11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Pastor Chris Lamb will officiate.
