It is with great sadness that the family of Hannah Elaine Hendricks announce her passing on July 28th, 2026, at the age of 66. Hannah touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a loving and supportive wife, an adoring mother and grandmother, and incredible sister, and a friend to so many.
Hannah was a one-of-a-kind woman who could fish anytime, catch turtles, roast a whole pig, bake the most delicious cornbread dressing, garden any plant or flower, and fry up her homemade hush puppies, all while keeping her lipstick and hair in place. She was a strong and vibrant woman, who always stood up for what she believed in and for those she loved. Her generous spirit and nurturing nature extended not only to those she loved but to animals as well. Whether rescuing stray cats, nursing hurt wildlife back to health, volunteering at the Birmingham Zoo, or simply feeding the birds from her porch, Hannah both understood and exhibited a fundamental quality about animals – that they can give us their whole hearts without asking for anything in return. This type of unconditional love is what Hannah exemplified and what she will always be remembered by. She leaves a legacy of love, adventure, strength, and compassion that lives on.
Hannah is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Hendricks; her children, David Hendricks, Adam Hendricks, Neal (Laura) Hendricks; her grandchildren, Jade and Luke; and her siblings, Janie Calvert, Liz Price, Robert Hare, and Ricky Hare.
A private memorial service with close family will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to any animal rescue of your choice in honor of Hannah Hendricks.
