

Harmon D. Cambron entered the presence of his Savior on February 4, 2019 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a kind man. H.D. was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
H.D. Cambron was born on September 4, 1932 in Piedmont Alabama. He was the son of Milford H. Cambron and Grace Stewart Cambron. H.D.’s early years were spent in Piedmont, Alabama and Mobile, Alabama, where he graduated from Murphy High School. H.D. began his career at Alabama Power Company in 1951 as a tree trimmer. He advanced in responsibility throughout his 38-year career, retiring as a corporate auditor.
H.D. Cambron’s military career began in 1951 when he enlisted in the U.S Army in Mobile, AL. H.D. rose through the enlisted ranks to Sergeant First Class before receiving his commission as an Army Reserve officer. H.D retired from active reserve duty as a Lieutenant Colonel.
H.D. was awarded a B.S. in Business and a Masters of Science of Management by the University of South Alabama.
On November 22, 1951, H.D. married Bobbie Laura Vaughn of Prichard, Alabama. Bobbie walked beside him for sixty-four years of marriage until she was called home in September of 2016. He still heard Bobbie call his name until the day of his passing.
H.D. was active in his church and will be missed by his many friends at Northside Bible Church of Mobile, AL, Shades Mountain Independent Church, Hoover, AL where he served as the treasurer; and Bernie Points Baptist Church, Hoover, AL.
After H.D Cambron’s retirement from Alabama Power Co., he and Bobbie led excursions around the world for the Energizers retirement group. H.D.’s positive outlook and servant’s heart will be missed by the Energizers group, who is still active to this day
H.D. Cambron is survived by his sons James D. Cambron (Suki) and Timothy R. Cambron (Becky). His grandchildren are Anne Scuffham Nelson (Donald Nelson), Samuel Cambron (Jackie), Zachary Scuffham, Daniel Cambron (Faye) and Dave Cambron (Alicia). H.D. Cambron's great grandchildren are Olivia Nelson, Bella Nelson, Summer Cambron and Breeze Cambron.
H.D. Cambron’s heart beat for his grandchildren and great-niece (Michelle) and great grandchildren. He loved to play with them and shared in all their joys and heartbreaks from childhood through adulthood. They are rich with the memories of their Papaw. He loved us well and was a bright spot to all who knew him.
The threads of the stories told by H.D. Cambron enriched the tapestries of all the people with whom he shared his life. He will live on in the lives he touched.
The memorial service celebrating the life of H.D. Cambron will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, AL. on Friday, February 8, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. H. D. Cambron will be interred at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, gifts will be made to Team Red White & Blue.
