
WHITLEY, HAROLD CLIFFORD "CLIFF" age 91, of Alabaster, formerly of Covington, LA and Memphis, TN, died Saturday, December 11th 2010. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the 70th Infantry Division "Trail Blazers" in Germany and central Europe. He was well-known for his fierce devotion to and protectiveness of his lifelong love and wife of 71 years, Frances, his family and GOLF. Cliff was preceded in death by his wife Frances Thompson Whitley, parents, Roy Coleman and Arlis Maud Smith Whitley, brother D.A. Whitley, brothers-in-law Dan and Bobby Thompson and sister-in-law Mary Hamilton Thompson. He is survived by two sons, David (Roberta), and Hal (Erin) of the Birmingham area, daughter Dianne (Dave) Blaikie of Atlanta, GA, 8 grandchildren: Scott, Michelle, Heather, Tommy, Aimee', Ben, Adam and Grace, 3 great-grandchildren, Austin, Emmaline and Keillor, sister Elsie Taber, sisters-in-law Marion Whitley and Charlotte Thompson and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and fellow church members. There will a funeral service on Wednesday, December 15th at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Alabaster, AL, with Reverend Brian Erickson officiating.
