Harriette Anne Grizzard Woodring, 94, of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on October 28, 1931, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Thomas Woodring (Tom).
Harriette dedicated many years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for early childhood education led her to establish the preschool program at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in Birmingham, leaving a lasting legacy in the community she called home.
A woman of deep faith, Harriette was a devoted member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, where she raised her family and served with love and dedication.
She is survived by her sons, Bill and Brian Woodring; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Woodring; her cherished granddaughters, Carlee Durden (husband, Andrew Durden) and Nell Richardson (husband, Corey Richardson), and her beloved great-grandson, Daken Richardson. Harriette’s warmth, faith, and commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Harriette will be laid to rest beside her husband at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama on Thursday, February 12. A celebration of life will be held at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 am. Details to follow.
