Beth was born in Blountsville, Alabama on December 5, 1955. She was the fifth of eight children born to James and Vera McHan. Beth and Harry, affectionately known as “Pop,” lived in Alabaster, Alabama until his death on June 15, 2021. Her son, Jonathan, left this earth at the age of 20 and has been waiting on his mom since 2011. What a reunion they must be having!
Beth loved Harry’s son and daughter and their four children as her own. Snoop was blessed with so much love and devotion.
Beth graduated from J.B. Pennington High School in Blountsville and went to work for a local bank right out of High School. From there, she worked various jobs honing her skills as an accountant until she landed at Johnson-Locklin & Associates in 1984. She worked for them and Assured Partners until her
retirement in 2019. Beth was also co-owner of B&H Construction with Harry.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vera May Garrett Horton and Jimmy Joe Horton; step-son, Jonathan Michael "Sully" Sullivan; and siblings, Wayne Horton, June Blackerby, Larry Horton, and Morris Horton. Beth and Harry leave behind a huge number of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her beautiful smile and positive outlook. As daughter Kim remarked, “[Beth] was a pillar of strength and grace.”
“Pop” was born in Chilton County, Alabama on May 8, 1947. He and Beth co-owned HDH Construction. In retirement, he opened Pop's Produce on Valleydale Road.
Pop and Beth were members of the First Baptist Church of Pelham, where he enjoyed serving as a greeter at the main entrance most Sunday mornings. Church members excitedly anticipated his bright smile and sense of humor. In his leisure, Pop spent every possible moment with his four grandchildren. He also loved to go fishing, collect American muscle cars, and go hunting.
Nothing brought a bigger smile to Pop's face than when he talked about his deep love and admiration for Beth. They were married on September 7, 2002.
