Hazel Nesmith, age 87, of Odenville passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020. She was born on August 28, 1932 to Arthur and Mildred Pierce of Alabama. Hazel had a passion for cooking and gardening but her true love was spending time with her loving family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Springville and Green Acres Baptist Church. Hazel was a dedicated Christian and loved serving her Church up until the end. Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Nesmith; parents, Arthur and Mildred Pierce; brothers, Billy, Bobby, and Joe Pierce; sister, Delora Atkins. She leaves behind to carry on her legacy; children, William Michael, Rodger, Donna G. Copeland and Jeff Nesmith; brothers, John, Kenneth, and James (Pete) Pierce; grandchildren, Joey Nesmith and Angela Langston, Robert and Jenny Rawson, April Key and Brooke Davis, and 8 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be, Jo Jo Martin, Josh Langston, Brandon Davis, Nick Key, Colby Rawson, and Kevin Johnson In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association. A visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Hazel's life will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 11:00 am at Southern Heritage, burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.

She was my first and only babysitter that wasn’t family. She took such good care of me. I loved her cooking! She was a wonderful woman and I have such loving memories of her although I have not seen her in 40+ years. Prayers for the family. I know she will be missed but she has gone home and for that we can rejoice!
