Heather Hollis Norris of Vestavia Hills died January 18, 2019 following a long battle with breast cancer. She fought like a lion but with grace and beauty. When the battle was lost, she passed peacefully. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Patrick R. Norris, son Yates Patrick (Ashley) of Atlanta, GA, daughter Savannah Hollis and son Kyle Gavin of Vestavia Hills, a sponsored child, Roberto of Honduras, her mother-in-law Opal Norris of Hoover, brother-in-law Dr. John Gavin Norris of Houston, TX, two nieces Amanda (Britt) Thames of Homewood and Tara (Kyle) Davis of Mountain Brook, an Uncle Ken (Rana’) Mattson of Andover, Minnesota, a grand niece, three grand nephews, cousins and a special family friend who is like a son, Parker (Alecia) Beck of Birmingham. She was predeceased by her parents Ardyce and Rex Hollis, sister Diane McDannel, and brother Jason Hollis.
Heather was a graduate of Mountain Brook High School. She graduated from Auburn University in
three years with a degree in marketing and with honors. She was also a Diamond Doll. She received a
Master’s Degree in education from UAB.
She was co-owner and president of Davenport’s Pizza Palace in Mountain Brook Village, a member of
Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church and Vestavia Country Club. She loved her family and friends, her business, her animals, and sports. She was eager to respond to needy causes and did so often. She coached Yates’ and Kyle’s little league baseball teams, helped with Savannah’s cheerleading, dancing, and volleyball and delighted in Kyle’s love for competitive tennis. In addition, she was an excellent golfer. She won the VCC Ladies Golf Championship Tournament nine times, the most recent in October 2018.
The family is endlessly grateful for the love and support of friends and the expertise and compassion
of medical professionals, most especially Dr. Jimmie Harvey, Jr., who walked this journey with Heather and Patrick from beginning to end.
A private burial will be at Southern Heritage cemetery in Pelham, AL. A celebration of life service will be held at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church (Tyson Hall) on January 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to service. The Rev.
