Helen Rowell Lee

Helen Rowell Lee, age 74, of Cedar Mountain, NC lost her battle to cancer on May 26, 2018. Mrs. Lee received her degree in Radiological Science from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 1964. She worked as a radiation technician at UAB hospital. In 1973 she helped her husband open his private practice in General Psychiatry. She worked as the office manager till the practiced closed in 2006. She was an active member of the medical society in Birmingham. Mrs. Lee was a long time resident of Birmingham but has lived the last 12 years in both Panama City Beach, FL and Cedar Mountain, NC. Mrs. Lee was very involved with her condominium association in Panama City Beach, Fl. She served on the homeowner's board in various positions. In Cedar Mountain, she was active with Friends of DuPont Forest and the community center. She volunteered and held officer positions at both. Mrs. Lee is survived by her daughters, Tonya Reid and Terra Johnson, three grandchildren, Rutger Reid, Brantley Johnson, and Brayden Johnson, brothers, Paul Rowell (Irene), Eugene Davis (Dorothy), sister, Benita Stavely (Charles), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James M Lee, parents, PK Rowell, Eileen Rowell, and Annie Sue Rowell, brother Robert Rowell and sister in law Cookie Daly. Memorial service will be Saturday June 2 at 3:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Brightfocus.org for macular degeneration.
