

“Miss Helen,” as she was affectionately known, retired after 38 years of service as a claims validation examiner with the State of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Wallace, and her parents, George T. “Buster” McGraw and Minnie Pearl Vanderford McGraw; one sister, Merle McGraw Anderson; and one niece, Shirley Black.
Survivors include nephew, Douglas Brasher and his wife Sue Brasher, who along with Miss Helen’s nieces Pam South and Tracy Kelly were her primary caregivers. Also cherishing memories of Miss Helen are nephew, Jim Belless and his wife Dot; sister-in-law, Oma Wallace Bass and her husband David S. Bass; brother-in-law, Joe Wallace and his wife Ianthe; four nieces, Virginia Roland, Jenni Lue Moore, Sue Swenson, and Cynthia Wallace; seven grand-nieces; and three grand-nephews.
The Celebration of Miss Helen's Life was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Burial followed at Wooten Chapel Cemetery in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
