Ivan was born on April 14, 1930 in Albertville, AL. He was in the Air Force and served a tour in Japan. He graduated from Auburn University in 1956 and was a career pharmacist with Big B drugs. Ivan was active in his church, First Baptist Pelham, and was involved in Senior Adult Ministry, mission trips, and Vacation Bible School. He loved to travel, Southern Gospel Music, and meeting new people.
Ivan is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wilson Armstrong; and parents, Arvie and Geneva Armstrong.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Wendy) Armstrong); daughters, Lisa (Will) Lewis and Donna (David) Hampton; brothers, Leo Armstrong; sister, Wynell (Nyle) Burns; grandchildren, Lauren and Emily Lewis, and Matthew and Brandon Hampton; nephews, Paul (Wendy) Jackson and Riley Jackson; and special friend, Jean Preston.
Friends are invited to join the family at a visitation at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, from 12:30-2pm on Sunday, May 27, 2018. A celebration of Ivan’s life will begin at 2 with graveside to follow, Paul Moore officiating.
