He leaves behind his wife of 72 years Zenoba Lucas; four sons, David (Anne) Lucas; Darell (Dale) Lucas; Roger (Patty) Lucas; and Scott Lucas; six grandchildren, Brian (April) Lucas; Lee (Serena) Lucas; Matt (Christi) Lucas; Heath Lucas; Andrew (Amy) Lucas; Christopher Lucas; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry (Andrea) Lucas.
He was born in Dogwood, AL, on July 27, 1927, to the late Lee Dennis Lucas, Sr. and Agnes Eiland Lucas. Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Lee D. Lucas, Jr., and Frank Edward Lucas.
After graduating high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and attended the University of Montevallo, majoring in Accounting and Business. Mr. Lucas worked as an insurance executive and was also a Dale Carnegie certified instructor for decades, making a lasting impact on many course participants. Ever the faithful servant, he was a teacher, deacon, and leader at The Church at Liberty Park. He was also a member of the American Management Association, the Personnel Association of Birmingham, and served on various committees and boards for Baptist Health Systems. Mr. Lucas was known as a selfless individual who always had a genuine concern for others. He also had a deep love for God, his family, his country, and his fellow man. All who knew and loved him will miss him.
Due to COVID-19, a private burial will take place at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
