

Dr. Jack Strong, 86 of Vestavia Hills, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Jack served two tours as a Corpsman in the United States Navy, also serving in the Korean War. He received his B.S. from Auburn University in 1955 and his M.D. in 1961 from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where his was first in his class. He was a member of the AΩA National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Strong was a pathologist with Cunningham Pathology and Medical Laboratory Associates at East End Hospital and Medical Center East. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
Dr. Strong is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Berry Strong, Sr. and Lema Best Strong. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bettye Bradley Strong; sister, Judy Hyde; children, Jim (Theresa) Strong, Matthew Strong, Ted (Christy) Strong, and Jacqueline Strong; and grandchildren, Christopher Strong, Daniel Strong, Morgan Murphy, Amy Strong, Virginia Strong, Jack Strong, and Robby Strong.
The celebration of Dr. Strong’s life will be on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 2pm with the memorial service beginning at 3pm.
