A Minor High School graduate, "Jackie's" professional career was in management with BellSouth. She was a deeply devoted believer in Jesus Christ and a long-time, faithful member of Pelham First Baptist Church. She was actively involved in the church's Women's Ministry, often leading Bible studies and nurturing ladies and girls in their faith.
Jackie loved to tell others about her Christian faith, but more importantly, she daily lived out her trust in Christ. Before, during, and after her double lung transplant, her consistently positive outlook inspired family, friends, and business associates to find God's blessings in their own life challenges.
Beyond her relationship with God, Jackie found enormous enjoyment and strength in every moment she spent with her family: her loving husband of 52 years, John "Johnny" Thomas Spann; their two children, Jennifer Spann Dillahunty (husband Mark) and Jared Ray Spann (wife Blakeley); their grandchildren, Molly, Maggie, and Ryan Dillahunty, and Brodie and Ella Kate Spann; Jackie's two sisters, Joy Ray Kemp and Terri Ray Knight; and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbie Ray Bush.
Jackie's family will visit with friends at Pelham First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by A Service of Thanksgiving to God at 4 p.m. at the church, 2867 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to The Resting Place, the women's resource ministry of Pelham First Baptist. Go to "Give" at www.fbcpelham.org and designate your donations for The Resting Place.
