LANZA, JAKE L. age 87, of Helena, Al passed away Sunday December 5, 2010. Jake was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, the recipient of the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while serving in the European theater. He was a long time resident of Birmingham before retiring to Helena. Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his four daughters, Barbara Self, Jackie Lyle, Cheryl Bolden, and Linda Jenkins; grandchildren, David Self, Chris White, Daniel Self, Natalie Steed, Emily Bolden, and Melissa Hull; five great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, on Cahaba Valley Road, from 6 to 7pm and Wake service at 7pm. The funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Valley Church will be at 2pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2010.
