James Breckenridge

Mr. James Edward Breckenridge, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2016. Mr. Breckenridge was born November 25, 1929, in Sweetwater, Alabama. He was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Pair on November 4, 1950.

Mr. Breckenridge proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked in real estate in Jefferson and Shelby Counties for many years. Mr. Breckenridge was a longtime active member of Valleydale Baptist Church.

As a result of his uplifting spirit, he was loved by many. In his last days, he described his life and his family as “one blessing after another.”

Graveside services will be Monday, June 6th, 2016 at 3:00pm at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor John Loper officiating.

Mr. Breckenridge was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Callie Breckenridge; daughter, Brenda Breckenridge Bowen; grandson, Jason Bowen; and brother, Robert Breckenridge.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joyce Pair Breckenridge. His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Dale Breckenridge (Judy) and Gale Breckenridge, both of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren Amy Nance (Robin), April Billingsley (Jeff), Ginny Harrison (Don), John Breckenridge (Adrienne), Jinger Bittinger (Dan), Blake Breckenridge (Valentyme), and Katie Breckenridge; sister, Janie (Jerry) Martin; ten great grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
