James M. Cremer, age 88 of Birmingham, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018.
Jim was a native of Birmingham and a member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. He had a passion for photography and a love of gathering the family together for holidays. Jim graduated from Phillips High School and attended college at Auburn University, where he graduated with a double major in Journalism and History in 1953. He had a long career in advertising, having been employed by Lucky Forney Ad Agency, Avondale Mills, and Harbert International. He later formed his own advertising agency, Creamer and Associates.
Jim was also involved in a number of civic activities. He was President of the Birmingham Ad Club, President of the Birmingham Civic Opera, member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, and highly involved in The Festival of Arts, saluting countries around the world. He was also the President of Positive Maturity, which helps to enhance the lives of older adults through social services and civil engagements.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Rudy G. and Mamie Sue Creamer; and sisters, Evelyn and Ruby Creamer.
Survivors include his wife, Frances L. Creamer; son, James M. Creamer, Jr. (Michelle).; grandchildren, Taylor East and James M. Creamer, III; sister-in-law, Donnell Davis; nephews, Steve Stringfellow, Ron Davis, Lance Davis; and nieces, Deborah Posey and Dona Gore.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10am-11am Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham with graveside services immediately following at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
