

Jim served in the 8th Army Air Corps during WWII. His B-17 was shot down over Hamburg, Germany and he was a POW during 1944-1945. He graduated from Auburn University (API) in 1948.
Jim began his career with Alabama Gas Corporation in 1948 and retired in 1986 as Sr. Vice President of Operations after 38 years of service.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Jane Gunn Martin, and his sister Evelyn Fuller.
Survivors include Jim's children, Hank Martin (Diane) and Leslie M. Edgemon of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren, Clay Edgemon, Cody Edgemon of Fairhope and Alan Martin (Lindsey) of Tuscaloosa, AL.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, AL. A visitation will be in the Birmingham, AL area at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL on Monday, November 24 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, November 25, 2014, the committal service will begin at 11 a.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, AL or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
