

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John Henry and Mary Ellen Minor. A graduate of Phillips High School, he attended Auburn University, where he was a founding member of Phi Gamma Delta, and Samford University. Jim married the love of his life, Mary, on April 25, 1964. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. Jim spent the rest of his life as a Southern Baptist minister, associate pastor, Minister of Music, and Youth Pastor in various churches. He was a faithful member of the Alabama Singing Men with the Alabama Baptist for many years touring across Alabama. Jim will be remembered for his lifelong service in ministry and for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with all. His other passions were Auburn football, choir, mission trips, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Louise Minor; his two daughters, Ginger Elaine (Michael) Marlow; and Julie Marie (Chris) Poore; along with his grandchildren, Gretchen Kayla (Branden) Poe; Hannah Elizabeth Marlow; Luke Christian Poore; and Jacob James William Poore.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Pelham on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm with a service beginning at noon. Burial with military honors will follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
