He was born in Lake City, Florida to the late J.L. Parrish, Jr, and Anna Markham Parrish. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Commander in the Naval Reserve Seabees. For thirty-two years he practiced as a consulting engineer in Gainesville, retiring in 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Stewart Parrish, his daughters Victoria Henderson (Brooks Henderson) and Alexandria Parrish (Danny Evans) of Birmingham, Alabama, his five grandchildren Jackson, Tara, Chandler, Emily, and Bo as well as his sister, Anna Wilcox, and brother, Pat Parrish. His son, Stewart Parrish, predeceased him.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Alabama National Cemetary on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Following the interment, a celebration of life reception will be held at the home of Alexandria Parrish and Danny Evans from 1-4 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Memorial gifts may be made to the Gideons Memorial Bible Fund.
