James P Philen

James P Philen, age 92 from Alabaster, Alabama; passed away peacefully October 15, 2018 surrounded by his family and caregivers. Born August 1, 1926 in Old Texas, Al to the late William Chapman and Lula Mae. James served our country in the Army during World War II. Mr. Philen worked in advertising and retired from Moore Handley. Preceded in death by his son Ronnie and grandson Andrew and survived by his wife of 69 years, Mrs. Wilma Philen, who has been faithful to her vow of “in sickness and in health till death do us part.” Three sons, Wayne (Kay), Steve (Carol) and Gary; grandsons, Brian (Lauren), Christopher (Jennifer), and Brandon; Five Great-Grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Southern Care, New Beacon, Robin, Andrea, Christina and Lia. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00am at The First Baptist Church of Pelham with the Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11am. Military burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
