James H. SLOAN Jr.

James H. Sloan, Jr. (Jim) of Vestavia Hills, AL passed away at the age of 67 on August 8, 2018. Mr. Sloan is preceded in death by his parents, James H. Sloan, Sr. and Marie Mitchell Sloan of Florence, AL. He was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Lee Martin Sloan, Lucy Sloan, and El Sloan (Erica) and granddaughter, Sloan Ackerman. He is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Smith (Clyde); and Amy Hancock (Bob), nephew, Matt Smith (Sandi), nieces, Elizabeth and Haley Hancock. Mr. Sloan had a very successful career in the paper industry beginning with Champion Paper when it first opened in Courtland, AL. He progressed into management and then into the sales arena of the Paper industry until his retirement. He was a kind and friendly man with a wonderful sense of humor. From an early age, he was an avid golfer, scoring 7 holes in one in his lifetime. Auburn football was also another favorite interest with a fascinating recall of games from the past. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence, AL Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to The American Heart Association or Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence, Al.

I remember visiting with him on a family trip through Alabama. He was such a great man. He came to Milwaukee to visit the family many times as well and I always enjoyed visiting with him. Jim, you will be missed.
