A U.S. Navy veteran, Jimmy retired from the U.S. Postal Service after over 30 years as a mail carrier. He attended First Baptist Church of Pelham, AL.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James Walter Smith Sr. and Rebecca Joy Whitehead Smith, and a brother, Michael Boyd Smith. Survivors include Jimmy's wife, Rani Adelle Hicks Smith; three sons, Christopher Karl Smith (Andrea), Clayton Correll Smith (Jill), and Walter Keith Smith (Kristy); eight grandchildren, Cameron, Elizabeth, Daniel, Anna, James, Ashley, Lauren, and Paige; one sister, Pamela Smith Jones; one nephew, Robert J. Allen Smith (Tatia); and one niece, Mary-Catherine Jones.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, immediately followed by the 12 noon funeral in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Also on Thursday, the committal service will begin at 2 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
