Jane H. Barrett, 73, of Birmingham, AL, passed away November 28, 2022, after battling Parkinson's for 20 years. Jane was born at Home in Adger, AL, on August 14, 1949. She graduated from Brookwood High School in 1967 with a degree in Business. She also attended Bessemer Tech Community College in Bessemer, AL. Jane worked with South Central Bell for 30 years, 10 years as an operator, 20 years in management while working as an operator. Jane also managed Bessemer Super Bowling Alley.
Jane was a member of Prudes Creek Baptist Church in Brookwood, AL. She attended Agape Baptist Church in Zephyrhills, FL. Jane was a member of South Central Bell Pioneer Club for 20 years. Jane and her husband Eddie were members of the Quarterback club at the University of Alabama. Jane had a passion for cross stitching, ceramics, and crocheting. She loved travelling with her Motor Home friends throughout the United States and tailgating with her Alabama football family.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Eddie L. Barrett; parents, Frank and Louise Humphries; and brother William Frank Humphries. She was survived by her stepchildren, James Everett (Misty), Barrett (Meigs Roberts) of Headland, AL, stepdaughter, Cindy Willis (Tommy) of Springville, AL; four grandchildren, Payton Barrett Arkuszeski (Drew), Caroline Barrett, T.J. and Barrett Willis; two great grandchildren, Wesson T. and Adley Jane Arkuszeski; five sisters, Londa Patricia H. Limbaugh of Adger, AL, Bobbie H. McCraw of Macon, GA, Pamela H. Handley (Donald Ray) of Bessemer, AL and Lisa Humphries Haynes (Mike) of Springville, AL and Eva Humphries Montgomery of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Five nieces, Londa L. Limbaugh (CT) Drake of Adger, AL, Dannette Lee (Stephen) Lee of Adger, AL,
Tami McCraw Boychuk (James) of Macon, GA, Donielle Roubdioux of Helena, AL, Angela Handley Centola (Justin) of Niceville, FL; numerous great nieces and nephews and her very special friend
(Yorkshire Terrier) Axel Amadeus Boychuk.
Jane was known for her kindness, considerate and courteous personality. She loved her very special friends of Zephyrhills, FL and her Motor Home tailgate friends. Jane was also known for making the best homemade coconut cake with seven-minute icing.
Jane's family would like to acknowledge some of Jane's special friends. Dot Shields, Sarah and Wayne Johnson, Barbara and Allen Sale, Pat and Tommy Arwood, Bobbie Fortner and sister-in-law, Cel Barrett, for their loyal friendship throughout Jane's life.
We also express our deepest gratitude to Expect Care Hospice Team at Fairhaven Long Term Skilled Nursing Home and to the nurses and CNA's on her unit for their dedicated caring hearts in giving the special care Jane needed and required to live out her final days here on Earth.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Ken Kelley.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home followed by a service at 11:00 am. Committal service at Alabama National Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
