She moved to Dallas, Texas after graduation to begin her career working at Collins Radio. Jan had a successful professional career as an Executive Assistant/Coordinator having worked at Ford Motor Company, Hunt Midwest, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas City. She retired from BCBS of KC in 2011 after 25 years in the corporate communications department. She was adored by her coworkers and enjoyed going to various work events with a special group of people that have shared so many wonderful memories of her. She was passionate about various charities that touched her in some way. This was evident in her continuous contributions up until her last days.

She had a talent for cooking and baking, and her delicious meals and desserts brought joy to her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the beach and traveling with family in her later years.
Jan had a deep passion for sports, particularly football and basketball. She loved cheering on the Cowboys, Chiefs and Mizzou. She also started to cheer for Alabama since moving to Birmingham to be closer to her daughter and grandsons in 2014.
