Jay F. Donmoyer of Birmingham, AL passed away Friday, June 22, 2018. He was born and raised in Fredericksburg, PA, where he attended Northern Lebanon High School and briefly attended Penn State University.
Mr. Donmoyer continued his education at Lancaster Bible College, Lancaster, PA. Upon moving to Alabama, he graduated from Southeastern Bible College, earning his BA in Education; Samford University, studying History and Political Science; and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, studying History and Political Science. He taught 19 years at Alliance Christian School in Birmingham and 21 years at Shades Mountain Christian School. He taught Government, Economics, World History, US History, Geography and Bible.
Mr. Donmoyer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra S. Donmoyer; sister, Mary Brensinger; brother, Guy Hain; nieces, Brenda Watkins-Hirsh and Amy McCreless; nephews, Randy Brensinger and John McKay; several grand-nieces and -nephews; several cousins; and many, many “kids” and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Donmoyer, and infant daughter, Laura Michele Donmoyer.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
A Celebration of Mr. Donmoyer's Life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Mt. Signal Baptist Church, 7495 Old Highway 280, Sterett, AL, with Pastor Leonard Irvin, James Ritchey and Edwin Attaway officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Signal Baptist Cemetery.
