Jean Baxter Ellard

Mrs. Ellard was born on April 17, 1940 in Wilmington, North Carolina and grew up in Dothan, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University in 1962 with a degree in accounting. She married Drury William Ellard, Jr., on July 14, 1962. They lived in Vestavia Hills, Alabama for over 30 years, and they were members of the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.

After raising her family, Mrs. Ellard worked in the family business. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and being at Blue Mountain Beach. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Ellard is survived by her son, Drury William Ellard, III, of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Jennifer Ellard Snyder of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Margaret Ellard, Mary Catherine Ellard, Sarah Snyder, Will Snyder, and William Ellard; and one sister, Elizabeth Baxter Grace (Jim) of Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Ellard was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Joe Ford Baxter.

The family would like to thank Matthew and Mary Lembke (Mary Frances, Anna Kate, Emma) for their love and support over the years. Mrs. Ellard loved them like they were her own. Special thanks to Tamecia Harris and Jill Foreman for their loving care of Mrs. Ellard over the last few years.

Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by the 3 p.m. celebration of Mrs. Ellard's life in the funeral home's chapel in Pelham.
