

Delores Jean (Harvey) Nix Fain, age 83, of Birmingham, AL passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026 to make her triumphant journey to be with her Lord in heaven. She was born to David Edgar Harvey and Oneda "Nita" (Willoughby) Harvey on August 31, 1942, in Charleston, SC.
Jean was an accomplished pianist who both performed and taught piano, sharing her gift of music with countless individuals over many decades. She faithfully served through music at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX, and First Baptist Church of Opelika.
Professionally, Jean enjoyed a long and successful career of nearly 35 years with the Social Security Administration. During her tenure, she served in various roles ranging from clerk, claims representative, up to interim-district manager and worked in the Tuscaloosa, Opelika, Birmingham East, and Birmingham offices. In 2007, Jean retired to spend more time with family.
All who knew her witnessed a gentle, loving, giving, and kindhearted friend. She was a proud, loving and caring wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, David Edgar, and Oneda "Nita" Harvey; first husband of 48 years Gerald Byron Nix.
She leaves behind her husband of 15 years, Albert Lamar Fain Jr.; children, David Nix (Christine Woodward), Gerald Nix (Sara), Lynne Thomason (Jerry), Jeff Fain (Darla), Ellen Blatchford (Jud); 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham with a service to follow in the chapel at 11:00 am. Burial will conclude in the adjoining cemetery.
