Jeanne S. Chilton

Chilton Eva Jeanne Shirley, age 74, was born April 28, 1937 and went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 15, 2011. She was a resident of Alabaster and a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. She grew up in Ruston, Louisiana where she attended college at Louisiana Tech. She then went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to get her Master's degree in Religious Education. It was there she met her husband, William F. (Bill) Chilton. She taught school for many years in Gadsden and Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Middleton Shirley and Eva Henderson Shirley. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William F. Chilton, son, Mark William Chilton (Susan), daughter Deborah Chilton McWaters (Cas); daughter, Elisabeth Chilton Hethcox (Joel); grandchildren Ben Chilton, Jenni Chilton, Katie Chilton, Hanley McWaters, Heath McWaters, Emily Hethcox, & Will Hethcox; brothers, Middleton Shirley (Sutsy), Henry Shirley (Susan), Brother and Sister -in-law, Don Hazard (Barbara), sister-in-law, Marsha Chilton; and nine nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00am at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Sav-a-Life Shelby or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
