Jeffery Glen (Jeff) Looney, 56, of Vestavia Hills, AL, went home to be with his Savior on January 13, 2020. Jeff was a proud graduate of Vestavia Hills High School, where he still loved to attend many sporting events. He was a 1985 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, where he studied Business. He worked as a financial advisor for over 30 years, helping countless people in the area plan for their futures. Active in his community, Jeff coached numerous youth soccer and basketball teams, assisted with summer swim league and served as a board member for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also a co-founder of the Rebel Football Foundation. As a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, he volunteered in many capacities. Jeff often spent his weekends fishing on the lake, hunting at the family farm, or watching his beloved Auburn Tigers.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Bellamy South Looney, daughter, Mary Jayne Looney Reed (Brian), son, Van Looney (Kathryn), parents, Sam Looney (Shelby) and Frances Stanfield, brother, Ben Looney (Caroline), sister, Meredith Looney Cadwell (Justin) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Herb Stanfield.

Jeff’s life will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills, AL. The visitation will begin at 10 am, and the service will start at noon. A burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to RISE at Vestavia Hills High School, which benefits the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Research Center at UAB: http://www.uab.edu/vhhsrise

Hearing Bellamy speak so lovingly over the years about Jeff, made me feel as if I knew him a lifetime. When I did meet Jeff, he left an unimaginable impression on me. He was one of the most welcoming and warm spirited men you could ever meet. Which truly complimented who Bellamy is as a person. Their faith and love is what will get Bellamy, Mary Jane and Van through this time.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of Jeff’s passing. I met Jeff while working at WSCC in Hanceville & he was our Hartford rep. He was always professional but kind & easy to talk to. I also invested & he has been my “go to” advisor for 20+ years. Deepest sympathy & prayers for his wife & family during this difficult & sad time. He will be missed....may he Rest In Peace in God’s loving home of heaven!!
