With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffrey William Burr, a man whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew him. Jeff passed away July 05, 2025 at the age of 57 leaving behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and deep connection.
Jeff was not only a devoted son, a cherished brother, and a proud uncle—he was a true and steadfast friend. He had an extraordinary gift: the ability to draw people in and make them feel seen, heard, and cared for. He was the Pied Piper of people and children alike—wherever he went, love followed. His gentle spirit and open heart created a space where others felt safe, valued, and deeply loved.
Jeff wasn’t just a friend—he was unwavering. No matter what life threw at him, no matter how tough things got, he remained true to himself and to those he cared about. Even in his hardest days, he still found a way to smile when you visited—sometimes weak, but always there. His resilience, even in the face of adversity, was a quiet and powerful inspiration to all who knew him.
We are so proud to have called Jeff our brother. His presence was a gift, and his absence leaves a space that no one else could ever fill. It was us who have been blessed—for having the honor, the privilege, the magic, the fun, and the joy of simply sharing life with him.
You are at peace now, Jeff.
You will always be loved.
You will never be forgotten.
A special thank you to Dr. Gettinger for his devoted friendship and the care and love he gave to Jeff.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to “other” infectious disease research at UAB Medical Center in Jeffreys name.
