

Todd is survived by his parents; his siblings, Jil (Dave) Dorman, Jamie (David) Elliott, Greg Skelton, and Julie (Eric) Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the Service of Celebration for Todd's Life at 12 noon. Ridout's Southern Heritage is located at 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
Todd graduated from W.A. Berry High School and attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. His professional career included more than 23 years of experience in construction machinery and equipment appraisal, in addition to over 11 years of mechanical background experience and professional appraisal reporting. He completed education with EANA college level classes, workshops, and seminars in equipment valuation theory and practice, leading to his accreditation as a Certified Senior Appraiser (CSA). He was also a Certified Mobile Crane Inspector, and was an active member of the Equipment Appraisers Association of North America and the American Society of Appraisers.
Throughout his career, Todd maintained the pursuit of excellence learned from his father, an internationally recognized professional in the area of machinery and equipment appraisal. His extensive experience and education culminated in him becoming Certified Senior Appraiser, president, and owner of the family business, James W. Skelton & Associates, Inc., in Birmingham.
A life-long member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Todd was a very thoughtful and selfless man, always looking out for everyone. Among his many community recognitions, the Cities of Hoover and Vestavia Hills awarded him Certificates of Commendation for his dedication and untiring assistance to individuals and families in need during the crippling snowstorm of 1993.
