Jerry (Jay) Duane Bennett, Jr. age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on the lake at sunset, surrounded by the quiet beauty he loved so much. He was a simple man with a kind heart, a steady spirit, and a deep love for his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose strength, wisdom, and quiet presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Though his passing leaves a space that can never be filled, his family finds comfort knowing he left this world peacefully, in the place he loved most.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Cynthia (Cindy) Bennett, brother Vince Bennett, and his children: Jason (Emily) Bennett and Sarah Bennett Haskew. Also left to treasure his memory are 3 grandchildren: Chandler Grace Bennett, Robert Bennett Haskew, and Lily Marie Haskew. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry Duane Bennett, Sr. and Lessie Marie Smith and his brother Phillip Bennett.
He is also survived by his loving companion of 15 years, his dachshund, Chester.
A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, May 18 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm followed by a graveside service at 12:00 pm at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
