Joe Brady Lawley

Born on January 23, 1936, Joe was the son of Alford B. Lawley and Estelle J. Lawley. He graduated from West End High School in Birmingham, Alabama and went on to further his education at Samford University, earning his master's degree before going on to complete his Ph.D.

Joe married Verita Casey in 2013, and together they shared 13 wonderful years of marriage.

For his professional life, he dedicated several years with the YMCA. He later continued his career with the state of Georgia, where he retired. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed being a member of Clearbranch Church in Argo, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alford B. Lawley; his mother, Estelle J. Lawley; his son, David Joseph Lawley; his late wife, Charlene Scott Lawley; his sister, Betty Ross; and his brother-in-law, Rayman Ross.

Joe is survived by his wife, Verita Lawley; his son, Christopher Lawley (Uhanell); and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 12:00-1:00 PM with a service following at 1:00 PM.
